"No One's Buying It!" Use AI Agents Like ChatGPT To Get Your Clients To Take Action. Here's how...

Compel leads to buy what you have to sell by tapping into their subconscious drives.

Confusing isn't Convincing (Crafted with MidJourney)

Finessing a speech, an article, a tweet (or should I now call it an "X"?) to make it more persuasive and compelling to motivate the listener to take action is both an art and a science.

An AI agent like ChatGPT can assist in this process by leveraging persuasive techniques, emotional appeal, storytelling, and rhetorical devices.

Do I "Walk The Talk"?

Before I give you my TEN STEP FRAMEWORK that will help you write more persuasive copy, I need to tell you a miniature story from my life...

... from ten minutes ago!

You'll see in Step 2 below (no peeking) that you need to hook your audience's attention right off the bat. The best location for that is in the title of your content. The second best place is the thumbnail image.

My original headline for this article was "Use AI Agents Like ChatGPT To Make Your Writing, Speeches, and Video Much More Persuasive".

Imagine you are scrolling on your phone on LinkedIn or SubStack, or your favorite news app. What do you see?

  1. Headlines in bold

  2. A thumbnail photo

  3. Maybe a sub-headline

Okay, so what gets you to actually click on one article out of dozens you quickly scroll by?

That was a rhetorical question. I know you know the answer, but it's so easy to forget when we are writing our own content, whether it's an article or newsletter or a script for your next viral video.

Let's quickly analyze my original title -- "Use AI Agents Like ChatGPT To Make Your Writing, Speeches, and Video Much More Persuasive":

  • It has some good keywords: AI, ChatGPT

  • It tells you what I'm going to teach

  • It's boring as Hell

What's missing?

  • A hook or pattern interrupt

  • Also, what's in it for the reader? Not process, but benefits after you put the process into practice.

That's when I engaged ChatGPT to help me brainstorm "hookier" titles to engage you, dear reader, which you'll learn more about in STEP 3 below.

There's also another tiny lesson tucked into the corners of this story of mine that's worth mentioning...

The faster you take action upon learning something, the faster your skills compound... which directly correlates to how fast your bank account can grow and how much positive impact you'll see.

My TEN STEP FRAMEWORK on how an AI agent can help you persuade customers and clients to take the actions you want them to:

I'll preface this by giving you a warning: gaining knowledge without applying it in your life is one of the greatest tragedies. Don't let that fate befall you.

As Aristotle stated, "We are what we repeatedly do," and you want your readers to visualize themselves repeatedly reaping the rewards of their actions.

Under many of the steps below I give you suggested ways to put my lessons into practice by engaging with AI chat tools so that you can gain momentum in your life.

I want that for you. That's why I made this guide, afterall.

So let's dive in!

Golden Client Horizons (Crafted with MidJourney)

STEP 1: Understand the Audience and the Goal

The first step is to understand the target audience and the specific action you want them to take. Different audiences and actions may require different persuasive approaches.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: Ask ChatGPT (or your favorite chat AI) a series of questions to help you define your audience better.

Examples:

  • Hey ChatGPT. I help families find great senior living communities for their older loved ones. What are the attributes of the family member who will ultimately make the decision on what community to move into?

  • What are the main concerns of that decision maker?

  • What are they most afraid of?

  • Where does the decision maker hang out?

  • Tell me about the general demographics of families that can pay for private care or have purchased long term care insurance.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: Brainstorm what action you want your client to take. For your content to be concise it is best to direct them to take a single action.

  • Schedule a call on your website calendar

  • Watch a video you made

  • Like your Facebook page

  • Read an email

  • Go on a tour with you

STEP 2: Start with a Strong Hook

Begin your content with a captivating hook that grabs the listener's / reader's attention. It could be a shocking statistic, a thought-provoking question, a compelling story, or a memorable quote. The goal is to pique the listener's interest right from the start.

A hook is also sometimes called a pattern interrupt.

You want to get your audience to stop or do a double-take.

Let's look at the first phrase from my title for this article -- No One's Buying It!

It has a double meaning. On one hand, you might have a product that no one is literally plunking down hard cash to buy. On the other hand, we dip into the dark waters of the subconscious with a phrase that sounds like an accusation of your character. It has an emotional hook... for some people, anyway.

All we need to do with a hook is get someone to stop for an instant.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: Ask ChatGPT to come up with five variations of a hook or pattern interrupt about [insert topic here].

STEP 3: Tell a Persuasive Story

Stories are incredibly persuasive because they engage emotions and create relatable scenarios.

First, consider using a short scene from your life or business that introduces the topic you wish to cover in more detail after your scene closes. Remember, that to be a compelling story, there must be an obstacle or conflict that the main character of the scene had to overcome, usually by trying something new.

Second, if you don't have a personal experience, you can discuss an episode from one of your clients or even friend or family member that helped the concept solidify in your mind.

An AI agent can help weave a narrative that illustrates the problem, the solution, and the positive outcome that taking action will lead to. Make the listener feel emotionally invested in the story.

STEP 4: Use Rhetorical Devices

Employ rhetorical devices like repetition, alliteration, and parallelism to make key points more memorable. For example, repeating a phrase like "We can, we must, we will" emphasizes determination.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: Some AI agents accept long input. Anthropic's new paid version of Claude.ai allows for one hundred thousand tokens as input... that's equivalent to a short novel.

  • You can input your content (i.e. your speech, article, paper, etc.) and ask Claude to rewrite it using the rhetorical devices mentioned above.

STEP 5: Address Counter Arguments

Acknowledge potential objections or counter arguments that the audience might have, and then skillfully refute them. This demonstrates that you've considered various perspectives and strengthens your position.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: Continue the discussion with your AI in a single chat or conversation thread.

  • By doing this your AI partner will remember the context of what has come before.

  • For this reason, prompts later in the thread typical yield more specific results. In other words, the more you go back and forth with the AI on one topic, the easier it gets for you and for the AI.

  • Tell your AI chat tool to act as if it is in a debate representing the opposite viewpoint. Ask it to provide several counter arguments or contrarian viewpoints.

  • Now tell the AI it is to switch roles one more so that it can refute the arguments made by the contrarian debate arguments.

STEP 6: Appeal to Emotions

Emotions are a powerful driver of action.

An AI agent can suggest emotionally charged language and imagery to evoke feelings like empathy, fear, hope, or excitement.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: Example prompt — "ChatGPT, please describe the positive impact and transformation my clients will experience by purchasing my products and services. Evoke feelings like empathy, fear, hope, or excitement in your descriptions."

STEP 7: Provide Credible Evidence

Use data, statistics, expert opinions, and case studies to support your arguments. Ensure that the evidence is not only credible but also presented in a way that's easy for the audience to understand and remember.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: You can query an AI chat tool to provide you with facts and statistics, but beware; LLM's (Large Language Models) can "hallucinate" answers, very similar to the way humans draw conclusions with faulty logic.

  • It is imperative that you always fact check hard data and citations received from the range of AI chat tools.

  • You can always feed articles or scholarly papers (and sometimes simply the URL to the article) into an AI and ask it to summarize the most pertinent details.

STEP 8: Make it Personal

Connect with the audience on a personal level. Use inclusive language like "we" and "our" to create a sense of unity. Share personal anecdotes or stories that relate to the audience's experiences.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: You can ask your AI chat tool to rewrite your article to use this more inclusive language to create closeness with readers and build trust.

STEP 9: Call to Action

Finally, the crux of it all: the call-to-action. Here's where you employ direct, actionable language. To counteract the "analysis paralysis" phenomenon, where choices can overwhelm people into inaction — an idea explored by psychologist Barry Schwartz in "The Paradox of Choice" — your words must be crystal clear.

Clearly and explicitly state the action you want the listener or reader to take. Use persuasive language to make it seem not just necessary but also urgent. For example, "Join us today to make a difference" is more compelling than a vague request.

Examples:

  • "Click Here to Start Your Journey!"

  • "Grab Your Opportunity Now!"

  • "Sign Up and Take Control!"

  • "Ready? Take Action!"

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: For example, if you want someone to share the article, you can ask your AI to help you brainstorm different ways to make that call to action request. If nothing else, this will give your content more variety and avoid having you coming across as stale to your audience.

STEP 10: End with Impact

Finish the speech with a memorable conclusion that reinforces the call to action and leaves a lasting impression. A strong closing statement can linger in the listener's mind long after the speech ends.

MOMENTUM PRACTICE: AI chat agents are fantastic at both summarizing and writing in different styles.

  • If you want to be perceived as an analytical expert, it can come across with a heady tone if you request it. Maybe that kind of positioning is important in your field.

  • However, the opposite approach could be more powerful depending on your niche or market. Perhaps a loose, conversational style from the perspective as a newbie excited about learning a new thing could help your audience feel closer to where you are in life.

  • Think of the first as the "mentor" persona and the second as the "friendly enthusiast".

Closing Thoughts

As French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre noted, "We are our choices," and you want to make your readers choose to act.

An AI agent like ChatGPT can assist at various stages of this process to help you grow much faster. By taking the fast actions I suggested in the MOMENTUM PRACTICE sections of this article, you will start seeing some amazing and surprising results in audience engagement.

More importantly, you will see amazing and welcome results in your increased output and personal confidence, because having a partner who never sleeps and doesn't have its own, conflicting agenda is a miracle for us all to embrace.

What's more, AI can generate persuasive language, provide data and evidence, suggest rhetorical devices, and even help refine the structure and flow of your speech.

With all that said, humans are still by far the most important agent in the mix, because it's our vision of what could be that comes unbidden... as we daydream or as we lie awake at night, wrestling with ideas... that shapes the world we live in.

It's essential to maintain and even double-down on your authenticity and align your speeches, articles, newsletters, and videos with your unique voice and values to ensure it resonates genuinely with an audience you wish to serve.

Additionally, later on down the line, when all that we covered becomes second nature, rehearsing and delivering the speech effectively will become crucial for reaching a new level of persuasive impact.
